Oslo, Norway – January 15, 2026 – Publisher Funcom® and developer Astrolabe® Interactive Inc. are excited to celebrate Aloft®, which today marks its one-year anniversary in Early Access. After launch on 15th of January 2025, well over 250,000 players have joined the skies in Aloft and created more than 260,000 worlds. To kickstart the anniversary of the game, Astrolabe and Funcom have made this recap trailer for the year.
Astrolabe and Funcom are also thrilled to announce Gliders & Gales, the first content update of 2026, releasing February 12, highly anticipated by the players. This update will introduce customization to gliders, including new shapes, patterns, fabric textures, oculi, and trails. Gliders & Gales will also add 6 new Wonder Islands, each one including a brand-new feature: glider races.
2025 was a busy year for the cozy, feel-good sandbox survival game, with the launch of no less than three content updates and numerous patches – all influenced by the feedback from the passionate community. Aloft received numerous awards, including Best to Relax at the 2025 Gameoneer Awards and Top 5 Best Studio Game at the Game Development World Championship, plus no less than eight awards at NYX Game Awards, including the Grand Prize for PC Game Indie, Survival, Casual and Best Experience.
